Samsung Blackjack cannot sync with Vista Mobile Device Center 6.1

My new Samsung Blackjack (SGH-i607) will not synchronize with Vista Ultimate
using Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1 Beeps when USB cord is connected but
desktop does not even recognize smartphone as a mobile device. Very
frustrating. My older Cingular 3125 was able to sync Outlook 2007 on this
same Vista computer. Samsung BJ does not seem to work with WMDC and of
course ActiveSync does not work on Vista. PLEASE HELP as I need to sync
calendars ASAP. Thanks

RE: Samsung Blackjack cannot sync with Vista Mobile Device Center 6.1

John,

The beep may be from the device to indicate it is charging and/or has a
connection. It looks like it may be a driver issue in that your Vista PC
isn't recognizing the BlackJack properly. (I know some people have issues
with 64bit versions of Vista due to driver signing requirements- also if you
have a 64bit version make sure you have the 64bit version of WMDC). Make sure
you run Windows Update to make sure you have the latest version and any
hotfixes. If possible you can try synching via Bluetooth and see if it is a
port/firewall issue with your USB connection. Does your Blackjack show up in
Device manager? Is it able to be seen by Windows Media Player as a device?

Latest ROM for the Blackjack is here:

A hard reset/Master Reset may help as well:

1: Start with the phone off
2: Hold the Up Arrow Key
3: Hold Power
4: Follow intructions when you see the prompt

Hope this helps.

Let us know how you make out.

Re: Samsung Blackjack cannot sync with Vista Mobile Device Center 6.1

I had the exact same problem between my Blackjack and my two Vista computers
at home. The beep upon connection and disconnection, but Mobile Device
Center would not see the phone. I did try the hard reset of the phone and
that did nothing to fix the problem. The problem is your firewall. In my
case, One Care. I had the Mobile Device Center open and the phone connected,
disabled the firewall and instant success. When I finished my work with the
phone, I closed Mobile Device Center but left the phone connected. I turned
the One Care firewall back on and then reopened Mobile Device Center and
once again there was no connection. I have sent a message to One Care tech
support about this.

Re: Samsung Blackjack cannot sync with Vista Mobile Device Center 6.1

I am so disgusted with this whole thing. I have been trying for 2 weeks to resolve the same issue:
- I have rebooted my phone
- I have disabled the firewalls
- bought a blue tooth adapter to try to sync it through bluetooth
- tried reinstalling mobile device center multiple times
- rebooted, reinstalled, restarted, blah blah

I can't wait until the new iPhone comes out in June!

In the mean time, I have 1,000 contacts in my outlook that I need to have access to on my phone. Help!!

Bottom Line: I get the same Beep that tells me that something is connected via USB, but the Sync Driver does not recognize the phone by name. It install a generic Driver and calls the phone "a Guest." I right-click on it in the Sync Center and click on Mobile Device Center, but IT WILL NOT OPEN!! I am going crazy. I can't get the dumb program to open. I try to open it from the Start Menu... nothing. I try to open it directly from the folder... nothing..

Thoughts?

Frustrated,
Joel
