forcing the replication after exceeded tombstone life**

Hello Gurus !
Need some help..
I had my vmware test lab powered of for sometime perhaps about 3month (took
a short break away from computers ) .
In vmware I had setup a single forest /single domain with two connecting
Win2003 AD sites and an exchange server 2003 at each site. Now that I
am back and ready to use my test environment , I notice my DCs are no longer
replicating with each other. Did some check and it seems I my have exceeded
my tombstone life.
How can force my sites /DCs to replicate once again ?
From what I've read it seems that have the option to force replication
using one of the following , but I'm a bit concerned how would either option
affect exchange ?
a) forcing the replication by altering the tombstone lifetime or
b) DCPromo one of my DCs in the other site to non-DC,then DCPromo it back
to DC.

What would be my best option and how would it affect exchange ?
P.S This environment is strictly for testing purpose but don't want to
rebuild my test environment again..
TIA
Any help would certainly be appreciated..
Darren

Reason why Your DCs are not replicating is because strict replication
consistency is enabled:
