RE: FQDN DHCP option (81)

Hi,

DHCP Option 81 allows dynamic updates of DNS records, A records and PTR
records!
You configure the option on the server options, not on the scope options.

For more information take a look at :
http://technet2.microsoft.com/window....mspx?mfr=true
and read under "How DHCP/DNS update interaction works".

Thanks Henrik,

I've configured in both the place server options and the scope options.

Advice me if this is not right?

Re: FQDN DHCP option (81)

DHCP scoope options is overriding the Server options.
If you remove a scoope option the Server option is gonna be the one that's
gonna be configured for the scoope.

Server options are configurations which you want to configure on all scopes.
Scoope options is options you want to configure on each scoope, those can be
specifif for each scoope.

Do you want the DHCP option 81 to be the same for all scoopes then use
Server Options if not use Scoope options.

Best regards
Henrik

Re: FQDN DHCP option (81)

Option 81 is not listed in the Scope Options nor the Server Options in DHCP.
You can configure this "option" using the checkboxes on the DNS tab in the
server properties of the DHCP server or in the scope properties for each
scope.
