Change IP address on domain controller - possible???
I installed and configure an AD environment under delegation of my company's
existing DNS server, say, childdomain.mycompany.com. Within this delegated zone, AD infrastructure is implemented with DCs, DNS, DHCP, TS, etc ... The DNS structure is: subdomain1.childdomain.mycompany.com with 2 DCs running AD integrated DNS delegated by the AD-root DNS subdomain2.childdomain.mycompany.com with 2 DCs running AD integrated DNS delegated by the AD-root DNS During the testing period and pre-production, all DCs are on the same subnet. However, I have to move 2 DCs of the subdomain2.childdomain.mycompany.com to another subnet, in other words, I have to change IP addresses for the 2 DCs, modifying DHCP scope. I'm just wondering the consequence and any precautionary actions / steps I should take. Thanks in advance for any solutions. ;-P |

Sure you can change the IP, but you must also update DNS, here is a good
link to walk you through all the steps. Re: Change IP address on domain controller - possible???
Thank you very much Bob for the link. I'm just wondering is that simple? Or
some other considerations, like inside the DNS there are whole bunch of information, e.g. _msdc, how about the replication? Before replication happened between old DNS. Sorry for 'paranoid' but my situation I can't make any mistake ... Thank you in advance for any further info or reassurance on this issue.
