Weird Issue on Compaq Laptop
I have Windows Server 2003 Standard installed on my development
laptop. The laptop is a Compaq Presario X1000. The other day, I was typing away and some of my keys were messed up. For example, the "p" was displaying a *, etc I figured the recent Windows Update that was applied might have installed something that conflicted with my laptop keyboard driver. So, I uninstalled all recent updates and whatever software I could think of that was recently installed. I also removed the device from the device manager and let Windows reinstall the driver. I rebooted a few times, still nothing. I then noticed that when I type in my username and password into the Windows logon form, the keys were fine. That was kinda weird. So, I logged in and looked to see if anything was running in my task manager that might be causing it. I didn't see anything that might cause this. I personally use the Administrator account on this machine. My next step was creating a new user, and add it to the Administrators group so that I could at least use the laptop and also see if the problem existed on different user accounts. I logged off the Administrator account, logged into my new account, and everything is completely fine. So, my question is this. What could possibly be causing this? I would hate to have two options: 1. Reinstall Windows. 2. Be forced to use my other account. |

Sometimes we might just missed out the obvious things:
Did you turn on the "num lock" on your laptop keyboard?
