Hello -=Ari=-,

Please describe what your real problem is and what you are trying to achive.
CITRIX and FSMO have nothing to do with each other.

Re: FSMO and Citrix

Thanks Meinolf

Customer have FSMO DC1 -> Schema master, Domain Naming and PDC
DC2 RID and Infra

i think better fsmo placement is DC1 Schema and Domain Naming
and PDC,RID and Infra to DC2

Customer ask to find out is there any reason that prevent to move PDC to DC2
there is Citrix "connection" or citrix use that server some way

Re: FSMO and Citrix

Hello -=Ari=-,

FSMO roles are only relevant for DC's. Furthermore a TS/CITRIX installation
shouldn't be done on DC's. If you have a single forest, single domain environment
you can place the FSMO roles on any DC, doesn't matter if all on one or splitted.
Also any DC can be GC server in this scenario.

Re: FSMO and Citrix

I'am agree with you
i'am favour split FSMO also in single domain environment for
performance and recovery case (emergency case is faster that you don't need
to move all role or seize all role) not all eggs same basket.

Re: FSMO and Citrix

I will disagree with the statement

-----you can place the FSMO roles on any DC, “doesn't matter if all on one
or spitted”
Knowing FSMO roles, understanding them is MUST, in my opinion. Splitting
them is the best practice
Simply, not having all the eggs in a same basket will prevent all the eggs
get broken if anything happens to egg basket. I do not want to go in details
but this is true, from experience and also is the MS best practice
I do agree with not putting anything but .DIT database on a domain
controller ( no other application )

Re: FSMO and Citrix

Hello oztelnet25GmailcomNospamorg@discussions.microsoft. com,

It is no problem to have all FSMO roles on one machine, IF you have a single
forest, single domain environment, like i wrote at the beginning. This is
the case in this posting. I totally agree with you to know what roles are
needed for what.
And if one of the DC's go down and you have to seize the roles, it doesn't
save you that amount of time if you have split them before.

Re: FSMO and Citrix

If you use dc2 for citrix i really doesn't recommand this to be domann
controller with pdc role as pdc will be the most busiest domain controller
than the others.
more over is always recommanded to install domain controller on the Severs
which are secured enough not with ones installed with citrix or ts or any
other applications.
