Need Help with Windows 2003 Server R2
I need to know if I have server that is configured for a Domain and want to
remove the AD and Domain and configure the server for a File Server only. What would happen? Would I crash the server or what? I have several issues with the server now and the PC's in the domain cannot see the server or connect to it for some reason. I checked to insure that the workstations are able to resolve to the server as well as ping the server. When I try to add them back to the AD it states that the domain is not found. |

Re: Need Help with Windows 2003 Server R2
Hi
-Is that Server a DC? If you de-promote the DC from AD it will become a normal member server, but that should solve your problem because you say that the clients can't reach that server!!! You say that you've several issues with the server, why not solving them first? What exactly is the problem, can you describe? did you ran any test before? -- I hope that the information above helps you. Have a Nice day. Jorge Silva MCSE, MVP Directory Services |

Re: Need Help with Windows 2003 Server R2
Hello ejbmail,
Your description is not really clear. Please describe in detail what role the server has now and maybe before, was it DC? What have you done, was the machine in the same domain or another one? What issues do you see and what errors do you get as popup or in the event viewer?
