Old Domain > New Domain DNS Issues

I have a current server 2000 domain, in which DNS works fine.
however in my server 2003 domain, the DNS forward lookup zone refuses to
fill with more than 20 results! and there should be around 4000 at least.

I wonder if there is some trust issues between the domains?
and is there some steps I could have missed?
any help would be greatly appreciated.

Active Directory Integrated Zone?

If so, what is the replication scope set to on each of the Domain
Controllers?

Re: Old Domain > New Domain DNS Issues

Hello, yes its is AD Integrated in domain A
(domain B is a stub)

the replication is set to all domain controllers within the domain.

any ideas on how to get it to replicate from Domain A to domain B?

we have pointed the IP DNS settings on a DC in domain B at the primary DC
for domain A and thats when only a few records appear.

Re: Old Domain > New Domain DNS Issues

Is that the case on the 2003 server as well?

I only ask because 2003 can store the zone data in an entirely different
place. It's possible it's accessing a duplicate and incomplete copy of the
zone.

That said, check Kevin's suggestion first, simple things are always better

Re: Old Domain > New Domain DNS Issues

Exactly as described.

Open up the DNS Console, select View, Filter, then the Display Limit tab.

Default value is 10000.

Re: Old Domain > New Domain DNS Issues

ok viewed that and it seems the limit is 10000, I have just noticed that on
the DNS list the new DC is listed as its IP address and again as its Server
name...

the IP address one had all the records it should yet the other one which has
the servers name is the one with only a few records...

so how do i remove the IP address one and leave the one with the name of the
server???

thanks for your help so far!!

I just looked back through the thread, and noticed you said one is a Stub
zone. is it the Stub Zone you are referring to?
If it is, Stub zones only get NS records and their Glue (A records for the
NS records), if the Glue records are in the same domain as the
Stub(NS.domain.com), you will get A records in the Stub for the NS records,
if the Glue records are for a different domain (NS.otherdomain.com), the the
Glue A records are hidden.
