Re: DNS Issues
Hello midimike88,
Was it the only DNS server? What kind of zone did you run on it AD integrated? Do you have a second DNS server and are the clients/servers configured to use it on the NIC? Re: DNS Issues
Hi Group and Meinolf;
It was the main DNS server. Also, we have 4 child domains. The structure looked like this. oldserver.com child1.server.com child2.server.com child3.server.com now it looks like this oldserver.com newserver.com child1.server.com child2.server.com child3.server.com I added Windows Server 2003 to replace Windows Server 2000, and then unhooked to move to our remote office. Remote office has serious DNS issues. It has a child DC there. So I wanted to move old server there. The structure at remote office child4.server.com Regards, Mike "Meinolf Weber" <meiweb(nospam)@gmx.de> wrote in message news:ff16fb66a27a18caa99aee8f2311@msnews.microsoft .com... > Hello midimike88, > > Was it the only DNS server? Re: DNS Issues
Hello midimike88,
The workstations on the root domain have a DNS ip address on the NIC, either with DHCP or fixed. SO if you take out the old DNS server you have to set the new DNS server ip address. If you use DHCP server you have to change the scope options of the DNS server. Meinolf and Group,
Yes, the DHCP Server service is running on Windows 2003 server, scope is set up for IP addresses: x.x.x.15 through x.x.x.99 Workstations are acquiring IP addresses correctly and internet connectivity is good. One problem I have is that I can't join workstation to the domain. Hello midimike88,
You forget the client ipconfig. Also open the DNS management console on the new server, expand the the server and check that the forward lookup zone contains the records for the _mscds_domain and domain.
