Epson DX4000 drivers not working on vista

My nan has just bought a new PC with Vista Home Basic pre installed. The
printer she bought (above) came with a CD but said not to use it on Vista to
download drivers which I did for her. When I double click on them to install
and error box comes up saying that the file is not a valid Win32 application.
I rang Epson who said it was a fault on th OP and to call Microsoft (who
aren't there now!) Any help would be gratefully received asap as I am only
here until tomorrow (sunday) late afternoon and would love to get it set up
for her before I go.
TIA

Try right clicking on on the setup.exe or install.exe file and selecting "Run as
Administrator".

Re: Epson DX4000 drivers not working on vista

Are you sure you downloaded the correct driver for your version of Vista (32-bit
[x86] or 64-bit [x64])?

You might want to download the file again, and after downloading, right click on
the file and press the Unblock button, Apply button and OK button.

You might also want to try to install in Safe Mode.

Re: Epson DX4000 drivers not working on vista

Yes, have downloaded correct drivers and confirmed this with Epson.
Tried the unlock previously but that didn't work.
I rang Epson who said it was a OS error, rang Microsoft today who said b/c
the OS was pre-installed to ring the manufacturer (emachines) who told me
they could send a re-boot disk for me to re-install Vista! Seems no-one is
willing to step up & take responsibility!!
I am back home now so will have to go up again & try to sort it for her but
don't quite know what else to do other than re-install Vista which I'm not
keen on doing.
Apparently you can use XP drivers but it could cause problems according to
Epsons support site.
If you or anyone else can make any other suggestions I would be very grateful.
Thanks
Andrea
