SYNCHING GMAIL WITH MICROSOFT MAIL

I keep getting the message:

Header download for the '[Gmail]' folder did not complete. Could not select
'[Gmail]' on the IMAP server. You might try refreshing your folder list to
synchronize with the IMAP server. Account: 'imap.gmail.com', Server:
'imap.gmail.com', Protocol: IMAP, Server Response: 'Unknown Mailbox: [Gmail]
(Failure)', Port: 993, Secure(SSL): Yes, Error Number: 0x800CCCD2

Anyone have any ideas on what it could be? I have refreshed the folder list
in windows mail by hitting F5, if that's even what it's talking about, but I
cannot figure out what I'm doing wrong.

RE: SYNCHING GMAIL WITH MICROSOFT MAIL

Getting the same thing. I am knew to Windows Mail. I am not sure if this is
related to it or GMAIL IMAP. Why does this folder even show up when I have
the inbox?

Re: SYNCHING GMAIL WITH MICROSOFT MAIL

Not being an IMAP guru, I don't have an answer. But I can tell you
that after trying Gmail's IMAP for a while, I went back to its POP option.
I was getting way too many IMAP-related errors. I don't know if Gmail is
to blame, other than the fact that my AOL IMAP account gets very few
IMAP-related errors.

Re: SYNCHING GMAIL WITH MICROSOFT MAIL

Well one thing I did and it has been working ok is that I chose to hide the
[gmail] folder. It looked like it had a duplicate of all the other folders in
there as well, so I figured, why have two? I just chose to hide it, and it
seems much more responsive. I'm not sure how to unhide it though, if I ever
needed it back...

Re: SYNCHING GMAIL WITH MICROSOFT MAIL

if you go to the imap tab on the configure window set gmail as your root
folder stoped the error will see if some thing else happens

High light [Gmail]..than right click..click properties...than go to
SYNCHRONIZE tab...uncheck (When synchonizing this folder,
downloads)..should get rid of your problem!

Re: SYNCHING GMAIL WITH MICROSOFT MAIL

I just right clicked on the [GMAIL] folder, chose Syncronization Setting,
then chose Don't Syncronize..I tested sending and receiving mail, and it
works, the error is gone
