Re: Microsoft MPEG-1 (50) codec

I BOUGHT HP PAVILION MEDIA CENTER m8120n, sept 2007 with windows vista home
premium and i am having the same problem Paula Gloria had. ( hope she is ok
now)
WMP will not play MP3 files, showing the message;

...'''An audio codec is needed to play this file. To determine if this codec
is available to download from the Web, click Web Help''''.

clicking on web help leads me to this;

'''Windows Media Player Error Message Help
You've encountered an error message C00D10D1 while using Windows Media
Player. The following information might help you troubleshoot the issue.

Codec is missing
Windows Media Player cannot play the file (or cannot play either the audio
or video portion of the file) because the Microsoft MPEG-1 (50) codec is not
installed on your computer'''.

The missing codec might be available to download from the Internet. To
search for the Microsoft MPEG-1 (50) codec, see WMPlugins.com.

WMPlugins does not have the codec.
what specific things should i do. i am not into computers to understand a
lot of theories.
