Email scanning should be turned off in any anti-virus. Also exclude EML
files from the scan. It provides no
protection not provided by the regular resident protection.
Besides that, McAfee and Norton are not compatible with Windows Mail and
Outlook Express and should be uninstalled.

Re: The Connection to the server has failed...

Hmmm...another 'Microsoft mailman' who says we should trash our computer
security just to use Microsoft Mail? Please, show a little common
sense...Norton or McAfee come installed on most new computers. It seems
Microsoft has to adjust to the realities of the computer industry. The world
doesn't revolve around Redman anymore. There are many other web based email
programs now.

Re: The Connection to the server has failed...

Norton and McAfee cause many, many more severe problems with Vista other than
the problems they cause with Windows Mail.

It is up to third party application developers to assure that THEIR products
work well with Vista -- especially when they advertise their products as Vista
compatible.. It is NOT Microsoft's responsibility to rewrite Vista code to
conform to third partly applications. And as proof, other anti-virus
applications (AVG and Avast) seem to play very nicely with Vista.

Your attitude is just one more example of "fashionable" Microsoft bashing --

I have been working in these newsgroups since 1997. I was first awarded the
MVP award in 1998. During all of that time Norton and McAfee have been
trashing Outlook Express and now Windows Mail. Sometimes they fix it for a
while but then they issue an automatic update that does something to these
programs again.

I suppose it was Microsoft's fault when Norton issued an automatic update
that made Chinese Windows unbootable earlier this year.
