Compressed File Missing From Send to in Vista
I am trying to Compress files in Vista and When I right click and Select Send
To the Compressed File option is missing. I checked Regedit and .zip is associated with compressed files. How do I add that feature back to Send To? |

Re: Compressed File Missing From Send to in Vista
Navigate to C:\Users\Default\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows \SendTo, and
Copy the file "Compressed (zipped) Folder". Then Paste it into this folder: C:\Users\(Your Name)\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\SendTo "Jimmymacvista" <Jimmymacvista@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:C29FCBD1-F632-483A-B4D7-3575B1687E86@microsoft.com... >I am trying to Compress files in Vista and When I right click and Select >Send > To the Compressed File option is missing. RE: Compressed File Missing From Send to in Vista
This posting was super helpful - but was unable to solve the problem of
highlighting a file and right-clicking to "send to compressed files" - this option is missing; furthermore, "send to desktop" is also missing. I've double checked my regedit as described below, I've copied and pasted the pathways also described below - but no luck. Any suggestions? I don't see the other replies to your message, but you can try this.
First, re-register the zip feature start/.../run, type: regsvr32 zipfldr Next open notepad to a new file, and type: Zip save this as: "C:\Users\Default\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Window s\SendTo\Compressed (zipped) Folder.ZFSendToTarget" Restart Windows. -- Was this helpful? Then click the Ratings button. Voting helps the web interface. http://www.microsoft.com/wn3/locales...eAPostAsAnswer Mark L. Ferguson .. Re: Compressed File Missing From Send to in Vista
This seemed like it would work, but an error comes up when I run 'regsvr32
zipfldr'. The error is 'Module zipfldr was loaded but the entry-point DLLRegisterServer was not found. Make sure taht "zipfldr" is a valid DLL or OCX file then try again'. Any ideas on how to get around that? "Mark L. Re: Compressed File Missing From Send to in Vista
Thank you Ramesh for the help. I have tried the directions you sent below
earlier (and again now), and when that didn't work, it prompted Mark Ferguson's response, but his suggestion led to the error I spoke of in my last post. So, just copying the appropriate file into the SendTo folder doesn't seem to be working. I can create a new user account where everything works fine, but it just isn't working on my admin account. Any more suggestions? Thank you again. Re: Compressed File Missing From Send to in Vista
It's possible that there is an extra (and corrupt) copy of zipfldr.dll
somewhere in the local path for that user. I would search everywhere for system and hidden files, and see if this extra zipfldr shows up. If you find one in the Profile folders for that admin account, I would rename it and test sendto. Since the other users are working OK, the one it ../system32 is probably OK. -- click the Ratings button.
