dual boot windows xp and vista

I just recently purchased a new laptop computer with windows vista on it and
I want to make it a dual boot system with a previous version of windows xp
but when I try to boot from the windows xp cd I get a message saying that it
does not see any hard drive to install to. What do I need to do to fix this?

You need to supply XP drivers for the Sata controller. Tap F6 when prompted
early in the installation process and then later it will prompts to insert a
floppy disk with the drivers for your Sata controller.

Do you know this laptop supports XP? Some of the manufacturers are not
providing XP drivers for certain of the new laptop models. Have you checked
on the computer manufacturer's web site for info on whether it's compatible
with XP?
