"Explorer Has Stopped Working" when trying to launch a Slideshow
When I attempt to start a Slideshow of photos using the Explorer toolbar, the
first picture launches and then, after about two seconds, closes with the message "Explorer has stopped working". I then get the usual series of messages that "Windows is looking for a solution to the problem" etc, but no answer is found. I get the same if I go through Microsoft Office Picture Manager. Problem reports below: Description A problem caused this program to stop interacting with Windows. Re: "Explorer Has Stopped Working" when trying to launch a Slidesh
Thanks.
I moved the 3 small .avi files that were included (the whole folder came from my digital camera) to another location and then the Slideshow woked fine. It's a shame that Microsoft don't document this problem anywhere; I have wasted almost an entire day trying to get this to work. Again, many many thanks. Re: "Explorer Has Stopped Working" when trying to launch a Slidesh
I read the previous posts and I am having a similar problem. I downloaded a
full memory card of pictures and a few .avi videos into my pictures, along with a bunch of photos & video clips from cds. It worked well for a few days and now everytime I go to the start menu and click this pictures link to the folder I get this message: Description: A problem caused this program to stop interacting with Windows. Problem signature: Problem Event Name: AppHangB1 Application Name: explorer.exe Application Version: 6.0.6000.16549 Application Timestamp: 46d230c5 Hang Signature: bf20 Hang Type: 0 OS Version: 6.0.6000.2.0.0.768.3 Locale ID: 1033 Additional Hang Signature 1: abff7151af16513c4915d5c48fb488c1 Additional Hang Signature 2: ab12 Additional Hang Signature 3: 4f341f01f7c4580002aa47c85e6f4fee Additional Hang Signature 4: bf20 Additional Hang Signature 5: abff7151af16513c4915d5c48fb488c1 Additional Hang Signature 6: ab12 Additional Hang Signature 7: 4f341f01f7c4580002aa47c85e6f4fee My pictures will not load at all in that screen. I can get complete acess to the folder thru control panel and I deleted a lot of images and moved the files into the video folder. It's still not working. I also cannot get my torrent .avi files to play with Real installed and a good codec pack. could this be related? Hopefully you can help mee! Thanks! Oh...I'm using a brand new HP dv9500 with Windows Vista and I'm not very computer savy. the registry to make sure that it was gone. I am still getting the same error message when i try to use the pictures link for the folder. Any other ideas? This might provide useful information:
Go to Control Panel (Classic view) > Problem Reports and Solutions. In the left hand pane of Problem Reports and Solutions, click the "View problem history" link. Right click on the problem and select "View problem details". In the bottom left corner of the screen, press the "Copy to clipboard" link. Paste in a reply to this thread.
