Virtual PC 2004 vs 2007
I haven't been able to locate any information on the compatibility of
Virtual PC 2004 and the 2007 version. However, I have 6 virtual PC's created in XP with the 2004 version. They are Windows for Workgroups, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows 2000 Professional, and Windows Server 2003. I installed Virtual PC 2007 in Vista and all of them work except Windows 98. It hangs right after the splash screen goes away. If I go back into XP and run it, then it runs scandisk and works normally. It's no biggy, but I like to see everything work... :-) ALL the virtual PC's run noticeably slower in Vista under the 2007 version. But then again, *everything* runs slower in Vista. I was just wondering if the 2004 version can be installed in Vista, and if so, would that fix my problem with Windows 98? If no one advises me against it, I'll probably try it anyway! -- --- Long live Fat32! --- |

Re: Virtual PC 2004 vs 2007
Virtual pc is a toy... If you want to do serious work get a vmware
product... look into vmware server, free and virtual box, free and open source now you have the virtual machines already in virtual pc, I think you can convert them to vmware ones.. > ALL the virtual PC's run noticeably slower in Vista under the 2007 > version. > But then again, *everything* runs slower in Vista. its more of a crawl than a run "Menno Hershberger" <> wrote in message news:Xns994EA2659B5A7butter@wefb973cbe498... >I haven't been able to locate any information on the compatibility of > Virtual PC 2004 and the 2007 version. > However, I have 6 virtual PC's created in XP with the 2004 version. > They are Windows for Workgroups, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME, > Windows 2000 Professional, and Windows Server 2003. > I installed Virtual PC 2007 in Vista and all of them work except Windows > 98. RE: Virtual PC 2004 vs 2007
VPC 2004 don't work in vista, only 2007 and yes *everything* runs slower in
Vista, you should install XP again if you want to run virtual machines or create a partition and make dual boot, vista actually is not enought mature to work with virtual machines... Yeah, I know. And that's about all I use it for. If someone consults me
about an older operating system, it's nice to be able to go back and take a look at it. "S4 hangar 18" <S4@hangar.18> wrote in news:.gbl: > Virtual pc is a toy... RE: Virtual PC 2004 vs 2007
That's what I'm doing now. Dual booting Vista and XP. And running the same
Virtual PC's from each. That it blows up in VPC 2007? No clue... but I would think if you can get it to run in VPC 2004 without it running Scandisk, that it would run OK in VPC 2007. Lang |

It runs scandisk in XP because it didn't shut down properly when I was trying it in Vista. If I run it twice in a row in XP, then it is OK the second time. -- --- Long live Fat32! --- |
