If you had it installed when you upgraded, do a search for winword.exe. If you find it, see if it will run. If not, reinstall from the CD. Neither the Microsoft Office application suite, nor any of its individual component applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, etc.), have _ever_ been "part" of *any* Windows operating system. They are, and always have been, separate applications, that must be purchased and installed separately. If all you need to do is view Office files, there are free viewers available from Microsoft: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/do...wers&av=DCT000 If you need to create and/or edit Office files: 1) Go to store/shop that sells computer software. 2) Purchase the Microsoft Office suite that contains the applications you need. 3) Return home. 4) Insert installation CD in PC's CD drive and follow the on-screen prompts and instructions to install application and desired additional features. For the budget-minded (who also don't need all of Word's or Excel's specific features), there's the free, open source OpenOffice: http://www.openoffice.org/ -- Bruce Chambers Help us help you: http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety. ~Benjamin Franklin Many people would rather die than think; in fact, most do. ~Bertrand Russell The philosopher has never killed any priests, whereas the priest has killed a great many philosophers. ~ Denis Diderot |

You'll have to fork out more money or download OpenOffice.org for free. It's a complete office suite highly compatible with MS Office - reads and writes all the MS Office file formats and more. |

Re: microsoft word
Word is not part of Vista and never has been part of any Windows edition.
If you mean *WordPad* (a very simple word processor that is a Windows accessory program) it might be under "Accessories" on the start menu. Otherwise, you have to purchase MS Word, or MS Office suite. Re: microsoft word
I upgraded to windows vista and I was informed that Microsoft Word came with
it... At least Microsoft Office. I can't afford to purchase a new disk for microsoft office just so I can work on school work. Where can I get a good MSoffice download for free? Unfortunately, you cannot legally do so.

This is not Microsoft Word, but rather a free alternative product that will likely do everything you need. There is no free version of Microsoft Word, at least not legally or safely (illegal sites are very sketchy, and you may get a "free" virus instead of what you're looking for). Microsoft Word, or any other of the Office products, has never been included with an operating system. They were frequently bundled by many manufacturers, which often lead to the misconception that they were. -- Best of Luck, Rick Rogers, aka "Nutcase" - Microsoft MVP http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/ Windows help - www.rickrogers.org My thoughts http://rick-mvp.blogspot.com "Struggling Studen" <Struggling Studen@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:CE2C94C3-DC70-4E60-98FC-7D97508AF3FB@microsoft.com... >I upgraded to windows vista and I was informed that Microsoft Word came >with > it... Word and the other MS Office applications have never been included with any version of Windows. Sometimes they are bundled with a new computer by the manufacturer but they are separate from Windows. They must be purchased. Word can be purcahsed as a stand-alone of as part of the Office Suite. |
