Re: Windows Error during Complete PC Backup
OK and yes I must agree that it could be the pen not the drive that will or
won't. It sure won't to the Pen but that may because at the time Vista was written Pen's were not very bid on capacity, now of course they are. -- Ian "Richardxxx" <Richardxxx.2tvzme@no-mx.forums.vistaheads.com> wrote in message news:Richardxxx.2tvzme@no-mx.forums.vistaheads.com... > > Thanks Ian - I can assure you it was doing it! Re: Windows Error during Complete PC Backup
OK Richard. If you put Mount Hard Drives in the Help and Support search box
you will get a read out about mounting drives. It may need this carried out. -- Ian "Richardxxx" <Richardxxx.2twhwp@no-mx.forums.vistaheads.com> wrote in message news:Richardxxx.2twhwp@no-mx.forums.vistaheads.com... > > Well I'm glad (and I hope) that's settled! Re: Windows Error during Complete PC Backup
Hi Ian - thanks for the mount/unmount tip - however that is not the problem - I can't get as far as designating a disc to back-up onto. First I need to be able to click on "Change Settings" which I can't do without generating the error as detailed in my post regards Richard -- Richardxxx Posted via http://www.vistaheads.com |

Well I'm glad (and I hope) that's settled! Re: Windows Error during Complete PC Backup
I must confess I do not know if this would work in Vista but I have used
Goodsync in XP. It free. Go take a look. http://www.goodsync.com -- Ian "Richardxxx" <Richardxxx.2twpwd@no-mx.forums.vistaheads.com> wrote in message news:Richardxxx.2twpwd@no-mx.forums.vistaheads.com... > > Hi Ian - thanks for the mount/unmount tip - however that is not the > problem - I can't get as far as designating a disc to back-up onto. > First I need to be able to click on "Change Settings" which I can't do > without generating the error as detailed in my post > > > regards > Richard > > > -- > Richardxxx > Posted via http://www.vistaheads.com > > |

Re: Windows Error during Complete PC Backup
Ian - I can confirm that Goodsync works - I have used it in Vista for some time - but I would like to get the native backup working correctly as detailed in my original post. Thank you Richard --------------------------------------------------------------------------- I am using Windows Vista Ultimate and trying to backup to a USB hard Drive. I have more or less the same problem as others have described in this thread. 1 if i try to backup I get the error message as follows: QUOTE The backup Application could not start due to an internal error The parameter is incorrect. (0x80070057) Please check your system configuration and try again UNQUOTE If I try to "Change Backup Settings" I get exactly the same error message. Originally I was able to backup using the Automatic File backup - I haven't been able to for about a month. I have reformatted the external drive in case there wasn't enough space on it. Still getting the same errors though! I would be very grateful for any advice Many thanks Richard -- Richardxxx Posted via http://www.vistaheads.com |
