copy protected movie dvd to hard drive

I'm using gateway with windows vista premium:
Is there anyway I can copy my old movie DVDs to my hard drive and burn
fresh copies of our favorite movies? All the movies are protected.

I've read about Nero, but with 200 versions its difficult to know which, if
any, might work for me.

RE: copy protected movie dvd to hard drive

I bought Nero 7 Ultimate on e-bay for ten bucks, and it works well with
Vista. Then I downloaded dvd43 from the website of the same name, and I can
make DVDs from copyprotected movie DVDs.

If you buy Nero on e-bay make sure you're not just paying for a pirated
license key. Don't buy a 'Nero Essentials' offer either. That is what comes
with a new DVD burner, for you to try, and is only good for a few weeks.

Read about DVD duplicating software, and do a little googling. There are
different opinions about whether it is legal to copy a copyrighted DVD, or
not.
