Sidebar gadgets corrupted
I went on a service call to fix a problem on a client's Vista machine in
regard to some malware. I was able to clean everything up fine and even discovered why the problem occurred; someone had deliberately disabled KAV, Windows Defender and UAC so as to be able to download some nefarious videos. But in checking the entire system out for other possible issues, I noticed that the Clock and Weather gadgets on the Sidebar were "corrupt". For example, the default analog clock was nothing more than a black distorted circle and the Weather gadget was displayed as a simple white rectangle. I tried several other gadgets and most wouldn't even display at all. I'm at odds to know how to proceed to fix this issue. Any/all help would be much appreciated. |

That looks promising. I'll certainly give that fix a try the next time I
visit the client. Many thanks! :~) "dean-dean" <> wrote in message news:.gbl... > Try the remedy provided here: > > Gadgets in the Windows Vista Sidebar are not displayed correctly > |

Re: Sidebar gadgets corrupted
Clipboard Browser uses Silverlight. Do you have the latest Silverlight
(Version 1.0 RC ) runtime installed? I think it was made available towards the end of July. Re: Sidebar gadgets corrupted
I also verified with the SilverLight site that it is working.

Re: Sidebar gadgets corrupted
From reading the comments on the gadget download page, some other people are
having this problem as well. The only thing I can think of is to Unblock the Clipboard.Gadget file in its Properties, before installing, since it will probably mark the files that it contains as "Blocked", as well, when extracted. Other then that, if Silverlight works on test pages in IE, then I guess the gadget is a little iffy. Dunno, really... Re: Sidebar gadgets corrupted
Thanks.... that remedy worked great. All the gadgets now work fine, except
it seems that the Calendar gadget doesn't want to work. . The Calendar displays as a blank orange box. Even if I drag the gadget onto the Desktop it remains the blank orange box. Any ideas on this one?
