Microsoft Money 2005 and backup files

I've recently upgraded to Vista. I was using money 2005 on my WINME system.
I have loaded the program. and tried everything I knew and could find in the
help section on the microsoft site to open up the back up file.
Restore backup-->letmoney find backup->

it finds the right .mbf file

click on restore->name the restored file (I use the default--C:\My
Documents\Money Files\My Money.mny)-> click on restore

The message I get is always: The path name is invalid; please use a valid
path name.

I have deleted all the files; transfered via CD, flashdrive; mailattachment;
same issue every time.

Re: Microsoft Money 2005 and backup files

I had a similar problem when I upgraded to Vista.
The way I got round it was to create a dummy file, no information
entered, then let Money do it's update.
Once it had updated I was able to open my original file up again, and
once that's done delete anything to do with the dummy file you created.
Hopefully that's all it is, took me an age to find this out and wasn't
from Microsoft surprise surprise.

Re: Microsoft Money 2005 and backup files

I tried letting it set up a dummy file, and then did the update. It still is
not accepting the backup

Re: Microsoft Money 2005 and backup files

I never did use the default.....I have always setup a seperate folder
When I installed money onto my Vista Machine it needed to "update"itself
first before I could restore the backup files off the DVD.
I also setup a "dummy" file to start Money off but then let the "restore"
overwrite the dummy file.
I see that Under Vista there is no C:\MyDocuments folder............but
there is under User(you name here)....could that be your problem??
