Microsoft Money Backup in Windows Vista
I hope someone can help me sort this out. I use Money 2006. When I was
using Windows XP I had no problem backing up my Money file to a CD-RW using Roxio's Drag-to-Disc. Now, with Vista I have to delete the file that's already on the disc, or rename the one I'm trying to put on the disc, because "the file I'm trying to replace is read only." It always has been read only and it still worked in XP. It probably has something to do with Vista's security, I just can't find any information on how to fix it. I just want the tihing to ask me if I want to replace the file on the disc and then DO IT when I say "yes," as it does in Windows XP. -- WFJ |

Re: Microsoft Money Backup in Windows Vista
Hi Winafay--
I have Money, but I haven't researched any Money-specific issues. I think this is just Vista UAC in action. Try right clicking on your Money icon (in All Programs or any other shortcut location>security tab>Add/or Edit>(if you have to Add>type users in Object box) and then make sure every checkbox for permissions is checked>close. In other words take full permissions of Money. This should do it. Then whether you want to use Roxio, Nero, or Vista's native burning capability. An alternative is to go to msconfig by typing msconfig in run box>tools>turn off UAC for the period of time you want to burn the backup image for Money 2006. Burn DVD/CD Vista http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Win...316981033.mspx Good luck, CH "winafay" <winafay@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:6069CF22-46BD-4245-88BF-11585B0A89D9@microsoft.com... >I hope someone can help me sort this out. RE: Microsoft Money Backup in Windows Vista
I have tried everything I could find and even upgraded to Money '07 to no
avail. If you set it to backup on exit, it will create a new file for you and save however many old backups you desire. That's the way I got around the "read only" hassle. -- Sam "winafay" wrote: > I hope someone can help me sort this out. I use Money 2006.
