connecting notebook to tv

i'm trying to hook up my tv to my laptop but when i plug the connection into
the tv evrything on my laptop screen enlarges and i can only see half the
stuff thats on the screen. but when i pull the plug out the screeen goes back
to normal.
i was wondering if anyone knew how to fix it so when i plug the connection
in the screen stays the same size?
Cheers

Re: connecting notebook to tv

This might help.
Shut your laptop down.
Plug in the TV.
Turn your laptop on.
TV should now be available as a second monitor.
Maybe :-)
