I am running Vista 64-bit English, brand new install (only two hours
old) and my update settings are to download but notify... NOT install.
Yet, while installing Visual Studio, Windows Update pops up saying I
need to reboot for my updates to take affect. I never told it to install
anything. The DVD I installed from was fresh out of the envelope from
Microsoft World Fullfillment and it is Enterprise Volume. I am seeing
the same update as above:

Hotfix for Windows (KB110806)
Installation date: ‎10/‎5/‎2007 3:02 PM
Installation status: Successful
Update type: Important

This was copied from the Windows Update History screen. Anyone have any

Both of those updates (kb110806, kb929300) relate to .net 3.5, they were required by the betas, and are automatically installed with the final version it seems (or at least they are if you install any of the express editions of visual studio 2008)

i've been trying to install microsoft .net 3.5 and EVERY time i try, it
not only will not complete, but installs those updates. I'm running
vista x64 ultimate. the updates have installed every single time i've
tried to install, so my installed updates section has about 8 of em...
