Vista & Canon MP830 HELP!

Dell Inspiron 1501, less than one year old.
Windows f****g Vista Business.
Just got a new Canon MP830 printer. Beautiful little machine.
Problem- When I try to print, MOST of the time the document sits in the
printer queue and never prints. (I try to delete the document and even though
it says its deleting the document, its not really. I just says its deleting
but never does.) The only exceptions are- 1. If I print something right away
after starting the computer from off position or 2. if I restart the computer.
Further complications- 1. the document CANNOT be deleted from the printer
queue. 2. It does no good to try to restart or shut down the computer by the
normal means. The computer starts the shutdown to a certain point (black
screen) but never restarts or never shuts off completely! I have to hold down
the power button until the machine cuts off.
Now- here’s the kicker: Remember the document sitting in the printer queue?
When I restart the computer, the document prints automatically. (Even though,
before I turned off the computer it was supposed to be deleting the document.)
I go through this process EVERY TIME!

Re: Vista & Canon MP830 HELP!

Thanks. I just had ASSUMED that a brand spanking new printer would obviously
be compatible with Vista. I hope this corrects the problems.

Here's the compatibility info:

http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/co...&modelid=12804

Note that they recommend downloading drivers for full functionality, and
that not all the supplied software is Vista-compatible.
