Ram on my Vista pc

I have installed 4gb of RAM into my computer and vista doesnt recognize all
of it. I know 32-bit vista only senses about 3.3 Gbs max. But my computer is
only sensing 2.8 GBs. Then i checked my viedo card and Vista is sharing over
1Gb with my video card. Is there any way to fix this problem?

Re: Ram on my Vista pc

On some cards you can specify how much RAM to share, reducing this can
dramatically effect video performance. Or get another card that does not
use shared RAM. However its not likely that you really need all the RAM
free because if you did you would already know from past experience that
you needed both Max Ram and Max Video performance.

How much dedicated video memory do you have? 2.8GB addressable isn't that
far out there for graphics card with a lot of RAM, or multiple graphics
cards.

Upgrade to 64-bit.

Re: Ram on my Vista pc

My computers vary from 2.5 to 3.5GB. 2.8GB is common. Nothing to be
concerned about.

Re: Ram on my Vista pc

He could go online and order the $9.95 64 bit OS of his existing system if
he has the Retail Vista OS. If it is OEM, like you say it does no harm.

Re: Ram on my Vista pc

If Vista came preinstalled on the computer then the Alternate Media website
is of no help. If you purchased Vista from a store then the instructions
for obtaining a 64bit dvd are in the box. The website is:
