"executable has stopped working"

My Window Vista games have stopped working. Most wont even open, however,
Solitaire does open, but always freezes and stops whenever i attempt to do
the same move. The message that comes up usually mentions the executable has
stopped working. This also happens when i try to open and "preview" pictures
in my documents. I have also noticed that the colour scheme i have saved
previously now refreshes back to the basic one everytime i turn on my laptop.
I feel as though i have deleted some important file! I'm using Vista Home
Basic. Any suggestions?

Welcome to the forums!

There are a couple of things that I'd suggest trying:

1. Do a system restore to a point before this started happening.

2. If system restore doesn't fix the issue, try doing a system repair
using the Vista DVD. That should fix any problems with the system files.

Let us know if that worked for you.
