Mrjingjing

I recently bought an Acer Travelmate 5510 laptop that came pre-installed with
Vista Home Premium. This morning when I tried to turn it on, i got a screen
telling me Vista would not start correctly because of some sort of hrdware
problem. Thankfully, there was an option to try and repair the problem,
however when I click on this, I just get the same page, and if I try the
other option which is to start windows normally it just crashes, then
reboots, only for me to get the same screen again. My laptop is brand new,
and there has been no previous faults on it, so i dont know what the problem
is.

Take the laptop back to the store and demand a new one with XP or Ubuntu
installed.

I think the problem may have been caused by my USB mouse being plugged in at
the wrong time, as it appears to have resolveditself, but thanks alot!

It could indeed be broken. If it was me, I'd attempt to boot a Linux Live
CD first just to see if I could identify any physical problems.

Why not? Would you miss WPA and WGA? Would you miss all the viruses that
Windows is prone to getting?

Ever try to play 3d games in ubuntu?
Not to mention ever try to get a 3d Video Card functioning Properly.
Have a system with 2 TV tuners and run Snapstream?

Surf the Web? No Problem
Email? No problem
Open Office? Great App!!
The 1st 3 are good reasons not to use Ubuntu.
If Unbuntu could easily do the 3 thing I HAVE to HAVE!!!
I might just switch.
But the last time I tried it (3 weeks ago) it didn't.

I will admit it is pretty good.
I've been using Linux on my servers for the last 10 years.
Linux servers are very STABLE!

their sh¡t together and provide a Linux version?

Well, you got me there, Windows is good for games but that's only
because the game programmers don't program for Ubuntu ... yet.

Try a dual boot with XP until the writers for those programs get their
act together and write them for Linux.
