Vista and VPC Sleep failure
Hi ALL:
Lately I've been trying Virtual machine ware and ran into a problem that seems to be related to my install of the VMWare Virtual Machine Player. ON day 1 of this event I un-installed Virtual Box and VirtualPC 2007 and then installed VMWare Player. The download for a VMware machine was going slow so I left that to another time. On day 2, I installed Virtual PC 2007 and installed Ubuntu Linux on it. Then I installed Virtual Box and installed Ubuntu Linux on it. Late on day two I discovered that My Vista system would not wakeup from sleep mode. The system appeared to enter sleep mode properly but would just die when a key was pressed to awaken it and the system needed to be re-booted. I de-installed the virtual machine software one at a time, the system would not recover from sleep mode after each install. I did a system restore to before the most recent VPC installs stepping backwards, no help. I did a system restore to before VMWare was installed and that resolved the issue. It appears that VMWare interfers with my Vista system's ability to recover from sleep mode. Hope this helps someone else! George |
