Explorer vs Firefox and WMP
If I click on an internet streaming audio source using IE that uses WMP I
have to save a header to the desktop and click on that or I get a box telling me that the file format is not recognized. However if I click on the same source using Firefox the stream automatically opens in WMP as it should. Why does Firefox get it right and Microsoft ***** the pooch on Microsoft's own audio file format? |

Re: Explorer vs Firefox and WMP
What's the URL? This *should* either be a bad source URL (MIME types not configured properly) or that your local system's file associations are broken. As regards the latter possibility, IE does a security check as part of IE's progressive download support - since Firefox doesn't support that, you wouldn't see that security check ever fail there since they don't run it. What third party players are on the system? A number do stomp on WMP's file associations as many aren't really Vista compatible yet. -- Speaking for myself only. See for some helpful WMP info.
