Re: Huge problems with Vista Ultimate 64 bit
What about re-installing Vista? I already made a complete backup and maybe this would help. I am also thinking about problems with drivers but frankly speaking I do not know how to "focus" which one is the guilty one, if it is.... -- Legatalfuturo |

Re: Huge problems with Vista Ultimate 64 bit
Of course, if you reinstall Vista, you would also have to reinstall any programs and restore any data you have built up. There was an XP Repair option available on the WinXP installation CD to reinstall XP over itself, which would in most cases not disturb your data or installed programs. Vista has an option like this also, described here: 'John Barnett's Windows Vista Support: Repair A Vista Installation Using The Upgrade Option Of The Vista DVD' () The difference between XP repair and Vista repair is that you must be able to boot into Vista in order to repair it, while the XP repair option was chosen in XP's Recovery Console, which meant that XP didn't necessarily have to be still bootable. -- LeeTutor If this answer has been of help to you, then please add to my Reputation by clicking on the middle icon at the top right. :geek: |

Re: Huge problems with Vista Ultimate 64 bit
After reading all the posts above re-installing Vista seems to be the only
option... It seems that something has really upset the system and the only way to really clear it up would be to copy your data off and do a complete reinstall - Don't forget to reformat the hard drive during the install. -- Grant Turri-Petrie "Legatalfuturo" wrote: > > What about re-installing Vista? > > I already made a complete backup and maybe this would help. > > I am also thinking about problems with drivers but frankly speaking I > do not know how to "focus" which one is the guilty one, if it is.... > > > -- > Legatalfuturo > |

Re: Huge problems with Vista Ultimate 64 bit
Everyone has told you to bring it to the person or shop that built the system. There is no need to complicate the issues more since that can result in further complications

Re: Huge problems with Vista Ultimate 64 bit
Ok, thanks for your hints. I'll try tomorrow to activate the repair option of Vista DVD....or the option suggested in the link you kindly indicated. I'll keep you posted. Thanks -- Legatalfuturo |

Re: Huge problems with Vista Ultimate 64 bit
Just a quick thought, but the keyboard you mention is wireless or blue tooth (not sure the exact model) Have you tried a wired keyboard to make sure the problem isn't with the signal. I remember some keyboard weirdness once when my wireless keyboard was acting up. -- taz777 |

Re: Huge problems with Vista Ultimate 64 bit
As a matter of fact my new keyboard is wireless but these problems arose from the very first beginning, with my previous wired keyboard. My old mouse (Logitech) was wireless, while the new one (Razer Lachesis) is wired with USB connection. In fact I was thinking about a problem concerning either keyboard or mouse or both.....I installed newest drivers....maybe I should shift to a simple wired Kyeboard linked to the usual port (not the wireless and the usb ones) and also a mouse linked to its usual port (not an USb and the wireless oneS) ? -- Legatalfuturo |

Re: Huge problems with Vista Ultimate 64 bit
Yes I would certainly try a standard wired keyboard. It would eliminate one of the variables right there. Good Luck! -- taz777 |

Re: Huge problems with Vista Ultimate 64 bit
Hi Legatalfuturo, I too have had the same problem and with all due respect to LeeTudor I found out that what was giving me problems (interestingly) was the WMI service which when I checked with the performance monitor, etc., interferred with and caused problems with any type of updates/new install causing me to experience hangs on start up and erratic behavior with keyboard and mouse.; I waited some of them out and at other times had to do a hard reboot . If you don't conduct/maintain business website(s) through your computer I would suggest disabling this feature, it seems to have eliminated many problem for me, heck if I know why. Not sure if it will help you and it is just a suggestion, disabling this had taken care of many of my problems with Ultimate and we have now rekindled our good relationship. )An aside, my computer would not boot completely when a disc was in the drive so I have to make sure no disc is present, not sure it it is HP or Ultimate, most likely the former. -- Dolon |
