First download Thunderbird and install it on the machine with OE. During the install, it will ask you if you want to import OE stuff. It will import your accounts, address book and email messages. Find the Thunderbird folder under Documents and Settings and copy all that's there to an external flash drive or hard drive. Install Thunderbird on the Vista machine. Replace what's in Thunderbird's folder under documents and settings with what you copied from the old computer. You're done except for passwords. Alias |

Re: OE in Vista??
Pam,
To import into Microsoft Outlook (2007 specifically), I don't know which version you have, I am sure they're similar enough though; From the menus select (click); File | Import and Export... This should prompt you with the 'Import and Export Wizard'. You will have a list of options on your import request, choose; Import from another program or file Click the next button. You will then be presented with another prompt titled, 'Import a File', select the Option Outlook Expresss 4.x, 5.x, 6.x,... Import your emails, account settings,.... I don't think you can run OE from Vista, it comes with Windows Mail, I am sure you can import into Windows Mail from OE import options in a similar fashion. Hope this gives you an idea. news:... > Is there NO WAY to run OE email in Vista?? Vista comes with Windows Mail, which is essentially just the new version of Outlook Express. Their giving it a new name was a good step in my view, bcause it takes away the common mixup with Microsoft Outlook that many people had. > If not, is there anyway to import my oe emails into either windows mail or > Microsoft Outlook? Yes, but since I haven't used Outlook Express for mail in many years, I can't tell you how to do it. Either wait for someone else to answer your question, or find the answer yourself with a Google search. |
