Buy in USA - Norwegian language...
Hi...
If my stepdaughter buys a laptop in Houston, can she still choose norwegian language during the first startup installation? Need answer shortly due to a upcoming flight.... -- Vennlig hilsen Øyvind Granberg |

Hi,
Not likely. A system purchased in the US is likely to have a US language version installed. She would need to then upgrade to Vista Ultimate in order to switch to the language of choice. -- Best of Luck, Rick Rogers, aka "Nutcase" - Microsoft MVP Windows help - My thoughts "Øyvind Granberg" <tresfjording@live.no> wrote in message news F72963A-7386-4A93-9CD1-430326F6DD15@microsoft.com...> Hi... > If my stepdaughter buys a laptop in Houston, can she still choose > norwegian language during the first startup installation? > > Need answer shortly due to a upcoming flight.... > > > -- > > Vennlig hilsen > Øyvind Granberg > > > |

The laptop will be pre-installed with English (United States).

Hi,
Timezone, yes. Language, no, at least not in any standard US system I've seen. -- Best of Luck, Rick Rogers, aka "Nutcase" - Microsoft MVP Windows help - My thoughts "Øyvind Granberg" <> wrote in message news:... > During the initial installtion, isn't she opted to choose language and > timezone? > > -- > > Vennlig hilsen > Øyvind Granberg > > > > > "Rick Rogers" <> skrev i nyhetsmeldingen: > #.gbl ... >> Hi, >> >> Not likely. Re: Buy in USA - Norwegian language...
That's just for the keyboard and format of dates and such. I see the
Windows Vista Anytime Upgrade Pack with SP1 [Home Premium to Ultimate] for $149.99 on Amazon.com. That will get you the ability to localize the operating system for Norwegian. Don't forget that you will probably want Norwegian software such as Office too. I see Office Home and Student 2007 for $79.99, Office Multi-Language Pack for $162.49 or you could buy a Norwegian Language Pack for Office 2007 online for $24.95. Compare these prices with the cost in Norway before deciding what to buy. Some people just install the appropriate Office Language Pack because the price is very reasonable compared with localizing the entire operating system. This page explains Office Language Packs. There may be other localizing options available in Norway that we are not aware of here. Re: Buy in USA - Norwegian language...
Thanks u'all!
I am familiar with the MS Language pack. My experience says it's not a proper permanent solution. At least not back in the days of Office 2003 and earlier. She just has to wait until she returns home for the holyday season. Cheaper to buy the whole shalabang here in the finest country in the world!! Again thank you. All of you.. I consider this case closed :-) -- Vennlig hilsen Øyvind Granberg "Øyvind Granberg" <> skrev i nyhetsmeldingen: ... > Hi... > If my stepdaughter buys a laptop in Houston, can she still choose > norwegian language during the first startup installation? > > Need answer shortly due to a upcoming flight.... > > > -- > > Vennlig hilsen > Øyvind Granberg > > > |
