Re: No rights on HKEY_Local_Machine registry map 'optionalcomponen

I'm running Vista Home Premium. How do I enable the 'real' administrator?
This account isn't available in confiuration/account management.

What do you mean you can't see which keys are in the ' map ' ?

Are you talking about the left and right panes of regedit ?

In my registry ,(Vista Ultimate) on the left side there is:
HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Run
with 'OptionalComponents' as a sub-key, thus:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Run\OptionalComponents
This is on the left-hand pane of regedit. OptionalComponents has several sub-keys,
IMAIL, MAPI and MSFS.

If you don't have that sub-key and you want to import it, here is mine :
================================================== ========

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Run\OptionalComponents]
@=""

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Run\OptionalComponents\IMAIL]
"Installed"="1"
@=""

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Run\OptionalComponents\MAPI]
"NoChange"="1"
"Installed"="1"
@=""

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Run\OptionalComponents\MSFS]
"Installed"="1"
@=""

================================================== ========
Copy and paste the above into a blank text document and save as 'something.reg'.
Right-click the reg file and select 'Merge'.
