vista problem

hi i have just purchased vista and tried to install it onto my computer and
when it gets to expanding files it either finishes that bit then gives me a
blue screen of death or it will just freeze halfway though it.

i have tried to do it as an upgrade but when i go to install xp sp2 it gets
half way though that and says it cannot complete then i get bsod's again.

Windows Vista Ultimate Retail Edition
mother board: asus m2n sli deluxe
memory: 2x 512mb
graphics: radeon x800 gto

thanks in advance

Re: vista problem

zero fill your hard drive so there's nothing at all left on it, then install
from scratch. If I recall correctly, Vista recommends 50Gb for the install.
You do not say what your hard drive is.

I laugh in your faceas my modest install of Windows XP pro only re
quires a minimum of 15GB exaltedly Four times less bulky than Vista and
IMHO a far superior Operating System, And not to mention some Linux
Distributions have ia full installation down to about 5 or 8 gb so
compaired to them windows is a dinosaur.

Vista requires a minimum of 2gb just to run all of is glitzy graphical
user interface (GUI), I'd high recommend that you go ahead and max out
your mother board with Memory and Get a Graphics processing Unit (GPU)
A.K.A Video card with minimum of 1024mb (1gb0 of on board memory) to
lighten the load omn your Physical memory (RAM) which from the
specifications you list seems a little low end.

Have you done a compatibility check to se If your hard ware can handle
the Operating system Over Head that Vista comes with?

You might also want to invest in a another hard drive so you can duel
boot to see if you like vista or not before you commit to it.

FYIO Please provide Full video card specifications in feature problem
reports and while your at it open up you case and give the inside of
you computer a through vacuuming to reduce dust and dirt thus gaining
performance.

So what are you doing on a Vista newsgroup? Why not just spare us your self
righteous whining and move on? For the most part this is a place where Vista
users help each other. You aren't a Vista users....so enjoy your OS's of
choice, quit trolling and let us get back to using Vista.
