Re: Newer Dell DVD-Drive problems

Fmandan,

I have a pretty new xps 630 with Vista, and just last night I began
experiencing the same problem. I have two drives, the e: is a dvd/cd and
the f: is a dvd/rw. I was watching a movie on a dvd in the f: drive and
it just stopped in the middle and froze. Now when I put in any dvd in f:
(good ones that still play in the e: drive), it spends several minutes
trying to read the dvd and then I get the message telling me to insert
the disc, and it ejects the dvd.

It is acting almost as if I told it to burn a dvd (which I hadn't) and
then put in non-writeable media (which I had).

I haven't called Dell yet either, I am hoping to find that there is
some known sw problem with a fix.

tia

Mark

Re: Newer Dell DVD-Drive problems

Hi Peter,

No, that didn't really help. My sound playback devices were all
enabled, and Windows Media Player was not running. A good try, though.

Thanks

Mark
