USB Speed
Hi I have Vista Ultimate. How do I test the speed of a USB connection to see if it is working okay. I have Hard Drive connected to a USB port. thanks Daniel -- daniellouwrens |

Thanks, I did that but have no idea what I am looking for, how can I tell if the transfer rate is good bad or indifferent, and which graph do i look at? regards Daniel -- daniellouwrens |

You already know the speed is 15.2MB/S. You know it's USB2 speed cause it's 15x faster than usb1. Assuming you're copying ONE big file, you're in the range where going faster depends on the speeds of the drives involved and the processor speed. You may be able to get more speed by using device manager to set policy to "optimize for performance". Be sure to READ all of the policy screen before you do it. |
