No "Pin to Start Menu"
Hello all, need a little help, I am running Vista at work now (from XP) and some of the apps I use daily do not have a Pin to start menu option. I am using the default (not the Classic) start menu. Is there any way to hack the registry or anything to allow me to pin them? Thanks for all the help. -- azwiley1 |

Re: No "Pin to Start Menu"
Are the programs installed on your own system?
Do the programs appear in your start/ programs list? If not then you probably do not have the pin to option. Hello Azxiley, Have you pressed and held the "SHIFT" key, then right clicked on the app to see if "Pin to Start Menu" appears then? Sometimes this may be required. Hope this helps, Shawn -- Brink *There are no dumb questions, just the people that do not ask them.* '*Windows 7 Forums*' () *and* '*::Vista Forums::*' () *Please post feedback to help others.* |

As an example of one of the apps I use daily and would like to pin is the AD Users and Computers part of the Server Admin Pack. Odd the a MS tool wont let me, but thrid party apps like Dameware did. -- azwiley1 |

Re: No "Pin to Start Menu"
You might see if creating a shortcut of that app, then pin the shortcut to the Start Menu will allow you to. azwiley1;891257 Wrote: > > Brink;891242 Wrote: > > > > azwiley1;891029 Wrote: > > > Hello all, need a little help, I am running Vista at work now (from XP) > > > and some of the apps I use daily do not have a Pin to start menu option. > > > I am using the default (not the Classic) start menu. > > > > > > Is there any way to hack the registry or anything to allow me to pin > > > them? > > > > > > Thanks for all the help.> > > > > > > > Hello Azxiley, > > > > Have you pressed and held the "SHIFT" key, then right clicked on > > the app to see if "Pin to Start Menu" appears then? Re: No "Pin to Start Menu"
So far I have tried all the suggestions here, as well as two provided by MS support and none of them are allowing me to pin these apps, or their short cuts to the start menu in the default view. In classic view I can just drag the short cut up to the very top and no problem, but I don't want to use that view. -- azwiley1 |
