Vista Downgrade


Is it possible to install Vista 32bit over the x64bit version?? We
purchased a new laptop and it has x64 on it, some of our programs are
not compatible. Thanks for any assistance!!!

No. You would need to do a clean install of Vista 32-bit. Contact the laptop
mftr. and get a 32-bit restore disk.

No. The only way to change from a 64-bit OS to a 32-bit OS (or
vice-versa, for that matter) is to format the partition and perform a
clean installation.

Hello Jvino,

Sorry, but you can only do a clean install when going from 32-bit to
64-bit, or the other way around.

What are examples of programs that are not compatible other then possibly
device drivers? Since almost software.applications that work with Vista32
also Work with Vista 64.

Hello Curious,

You can check at this Microsoft link to see if a program or hardware is
compatible with the 32-bit or 64-bit Vista versions.
