In Windows Mail, unknown errors and undeletable are often due to
interference
from an antivirus program. What if any antivirus programs do you have, and
have
you ever had a Norton or McAfee antivirus program installed on that
computer?

For a temporary fix, download and install this hotfix, with Windows Mail not
running:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/941090

Although it's labelled as for mail stuck in the Outbox, it also works in
other
folders. If you don't know whether you have a 32-bit version of Vista or
a 64-bit version, try the hotfix for the 32-bit version first. The Vista
SP1
update includes this hotfix, but takes longer to install.

Hi Samina,

This will help show you how to fix the stuck undeletable email message
problem in Windows Mail for all folders.

Installing the Microsoft KB941090 update will just fix the problem for
now. You must stop the cause to prevent it from happening again. Read
the section titled "FIRST" in this tutorial about antivirus and
anti-spyware/adware programs to help prevent this from happening again,
then install the KB941090 Microsoft Update in the section titled
"SECOND" to fix and be able to delete the stuck message from the problem
folder.

hi Samina.

With just the problem messages in your delete folder, right click on the
delete forder. You will be asked if you wish to permenently delete message,
click yes and you can do this for every one and you can get rid of them.

Re: cannot delete messages from deleted folder

thank you thank you thank you. I have had nearly 1400 messages in my deleted
folder that ranged from 6 weeks old to 2 weeks old that I could not delete.
I downloaded the fix you recommended and it worked

Re: cannot delete messages from deleted folder

If you get the same error again, you may want to download and install
this hotfix:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/941090

Although it's labelled as for mail stuck in the Outbox, it also works in
other folders.
