SP1 vista ultimate fails to install... .... http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=101139
Has anyone found an actual solution to this issue since nothing Microsoft offers
on is of any relevance at all..... ?? Vista SP1 goes through all the install machinations for an hour before finally declaring that it will not install and directs me to this website. Of course nothing on that page they offer is of any value and fixes nothing. Thanks for any suggestions you guys/gals might have. Tim |

My problem is exactly the same as yours.
face it - the software sucks and they are not doing anything about it. It all depends, Is it a V-Lite Installation? You cannot install SP1 on a V-Lite Version of Vista, Too what I have heard anyways ![]() -- JetWash |

Re: SP1 vista ultimate fails to install... .... http://go.microso
I have an answer from MS development. If you are using a version of Vista
that was from a beta or release candidate and then upgraded to the production release, SP1 will not install. SP1 will only install on Vista version that was released to manufacturing. Only solution is to reinstall Vista using a "real" release. Needless to say, as a long time Vista beta user, I've gone through many beta versions and RC versions that caused grief. I'm disappointed that MS engineers couldn't clean up the registry entries that prevent SP1 from being applied. It's a fine "thanks for being a beta tester".
