streched desktop

I encounter a really annoying problem when trying to play a game. The
application closes, doesn't even minimise, it just disappears and I get
a warning which says that I have to disable my streched desktop. I use
ATI graphics and I can find nothing on the settings refering to
streched/extended desktop or something. I have tried everything, but
there seems to be no solution! Please help me!

What game are you playing and have you checked to see if there's an update
for it? If it was not designed to be compatible with Vista then you can try
to run it in "compatibility mode" and select the OS it was designed to work
with.

You may want to try:
Right click on a empty desktop spot and select Personalize and then
Desktop Background. Under how should the picture be positioned select Center
vice Fit to Screen.

I am running the Sims 2 but it is compatible with vista. At first it
worked perfectly but after three days the streched desktop problem
appeared!

May not get back to follow up here but it may help if you mention your
system, video card and other details and check that you have the latest
video card drivers, usually that will be ATI or NVidia and both have
drivers for download at their sites.

Also, it is possible to "Stretch" a desktop over two monitors, even it
you do not have a second you might check display properties to see if
what is there matches your actual setup.
