Re: Overclocking

I have to Q6600 and for about 6 months was running it at 3.3Ghz but with
warmer weather and poorer AC I have knocked it down to 3.0Ghz. At that
speed I found that the puter wakes from sleep mode where at the higher speed
it would have to do a full restart to get it to wake. My MB has an
automatic voltage control so i can't really say with certainty if any or all
needed tweaking to manage the OC.

I now like the 3.0Ghz speed and will leave it there probably for the
duration of my ownership - for what I do the extra few MHz did not really
contribute. BTW, at one point I did have it booting successfully into Vista
at 3.6GHz but that was a bit more temp wise than I wanted to see.

Good luck with the OC - my cooling is just the stock fan so you might be
able to get more with an after market air cooling option or water cooling.

FWIW,

Len
