Boot problem -Windows vista start up problem - Blank screen with a underscore on the top left corner

Hello, =D

So i have a problem with my laptop. When i start it up, bios will start, however windows vista will not start up at all, it goes to a blank screen with a underscore on the top left part of the screen, however i cant type anything. i'm not sure how to fix it. I don't think its windows vista however i think its the hard drive, because it doesn't say "error os" or something of that sort.

My computer will do that if I leave my Ipod connected - turns out that it's trying to boot off of the ipod.

unplug all unnecessary devices from your computer. If that doesn't help, try unplugging the hard drive itself and see if you get a different error

Remove all the device connected in the USB ports and try to boot again.
also I would suggest to start without AC power supply too...

If that problem still continues, try removing you battery and then replace it back before rebooting.

Let's see... If you have tried rebooting your laptop without any USB device connected and its still doing the same thing, try re-seating your HDD. Just remove the HDD from the system and re-insert it.
