Don’t know to use Windows XP CD editor nlite. Any other solution to install XP SP2 on my laptop?
One week ago I bought a brand new HP notebook core duo processor (HP 530 notebook ) and I'm still hard working to install Windows XP SP2 on its hard drive. During Win XP installation I always get an error that hard disk was not detected, however the harddisk is good because I succeeded to install Linux on that notebook. I got advised to add the HP drivers trying to edit the Windows XP CD installation kit with a free software which name is 'nLite Windows XP CD editor' (http://www.softspecialist.com/nLite-3244/nLite.htm). I'm looking for a decent solution without any nLite or other 'XP configuration tool' suitable for a new notebook and a non computer person. I have to mention that I didn't receive any drivers CD together with the laptop. -- Alain ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Alain's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/member.php?userid=31920 View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/showthread.php?t=825562 http://forums.techarena.in |

No, not really. If you consider yourself a 'non-computer person' I would
think the only 'decent solution' would be to buy what you need. HP probably sells the XP setup CD for that system -- Mark L. Ferguson e-mail subject line must include "QZ" or it's deleted .. In other words: You have an HP laptop, you need to create an integrated SP2 Windows XP CD with the proper controller drivers slipstreamed. Your easiest and most consistent solution... Purchase an USB floppy diskette drive and find the drivers for your controller and put them on a floppy diskette to use as part of the F6 installation process of Windows XP. You could call up HP and see if they will provide you with a Windows XP installation CD that works on that laptop. Not gonna do that? Then you follow instructions like those found here: http://unattended.msfn.org/unattended.xp/view/web/36/ Can't do that? Then you use NLite or some similar utility OR have someone do it for you. NLite is for the 'non computer person'... It's a utility that does the work for you. -- Shenan Stanley MS-MVP -- How To Ask Questions The Smart Way http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html |

I have used nLite to integrate SATA drivers on Windows XP for a Dell and an Asus notebooks. Maybe this short 'how to integrate SATA drivers on Windows XP tutorial' (http://www.softarea51.com/blog/how-t...to-windows-xp/) will be useful for other people. -- serge51 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ serge51's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/member.php?userid=49043 View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/showthread.php?t=825562 http://forums.techarena.in |
