Locating files with accents

I am trying to backup my data and the files that have accents in them are not
recognized. Is there any way to search these files so that I can rename them?

Thanks.

What do you mean with "the files are not recognised"? What backup
program do you use? What happens when the program finds a file
with accented name?

You can find any file name containing "ä" by doing this:
- Click Start / Run / cmd {OK}
- Type these commands:
cd /d "c:\documents and settings\falcios\my documents" {Enter}
dir /s | find /i "å" > c:\Accent.txt
notepad c:\Accent.txt
