Taskbar hint problem
I am referring to the taskbar at the bottom of the screen in XP that
shows what programs are running on the desktop. I am not sure of it actual name but it has the "Start" button on its left. When the mouse hovers over one of the entries corresponding to a program on the desktop, a hint appears showing the name of the program. My problem is that this hint appears behind the toolbar itself so that all I can see is the very few top pixels of the hint. In this way it is totally useless because I cannot see it. How can I make the hint popup appear higher over the toolbar so I can see it and read it? Thanks. Jeff |

Microsoft doesn't provide much help, but here's their suggested solution. Tooltips for some taskbar icons are hidden behind the taskbar on a Windows XP-based computer http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=912650&SD=tech The most effective temporary fix I've come across is the following; Click on Start. Click on All Programs. Right click on an entry from the list. Select "Sort by name" from the menu. To give credit where credit is due, here's the source of this advice, the ever humble Micky. Tooltips behind taskbar - FIXED! http://groups.google.co.uk/group/mic...ff473a64?hl=en Good luck Nepatsfan |

It worked. Since this is a laptop and I usually do not reboot often (yes it is Windows) but just have it go into standby when I close the lid, as long as this temporary fix works after standby, that would be fine with me. Thanks again. Jeff |

Keep in mind that at some point in time the problem will return for no apparent reason. The best you can do is file that fix away for when it does. Nepatsfan |
