Maximum length of user name and password

Hi All,
I am trying to find out what is the maximum length of a user's log on name
and password for Window's XP. I am aware that the maximum length is more
than what will be visible on the screen, but I can't seem to find out just
how large the user name and password can be. Please help! Thanks.

20 for username and 127 for passwords

if you need to be backward compatible with passwords (9x/me), only 14
characters are allowed for LM

Re: Maximum length of user name and password

Jorgen,
I do not need this to be backward compatible. This is for a log on user
name and password into XP correct? Can you send me a link to where you found
this information? Thanks so much!
