Windows Update disabled

Hi
Can someone please help here. I had been attacked by the KILLAV virus, and
all is now clened up with the exception I am unable to run Windows Update.
I get the message ' Windows Update was diabled by your system administrator'.
Error 0X8DDD0003.
When I go to resolutions for this error as the administrator the instruction
reads: Start/Run/type gpedit.msc/click ok.
Message shows that gpedit.msc not found.
I am running XP Home editition.

Login as an administrator.

Go to Start/RUN and type in 'services.msc' without quotes.
Double click on Automatic Updates. Is it disabled?

If so, click on where it says 'Disabled' and click on Manual.

Re: Windows Update disabled

Hi John
It was on Automatic, I changed it to Manual but it still didn't work. I have
corrected it back to Automatic.

GPEDIT.msc is part of Windows XP PROFESSIONAL edition.
It is not available in Home Edition.

Re: Windows Update disabled

Thanks John
Any suggestions on how to get Windows Udate to function again? The Windows
site is only giving GPEDIT.msc as the only way to fix it.
